THE NINTH DIGIDESTINED.
Myotismon gazed down at the table like object before him. The table was carved out of stone and the top of it was like a totally flat TV screen, “DemiDevimon,” he called, he voice as firm as always. The bat like Rookie Digimon rushed into the room, almost tripping over his wings in the haste to do so, “Yes Lord Myotismon?” DemiDevimon asked, he sounded nervous because he knew what his master could do to him from past experiences, “It would seem that we’ve overlooked something. We failed to get the eighth child but now there appears to be a ninth.” DemiDevimon gulped, “With the others?” “No. In the Digidestined’s world. If you can get this mission right then maybe we can destroy the rest.” DemiDevimon tried not to look relieved, “I shall not fail, master.” “Take Kuwagumon with you and do not fail me.” DemiDevimon hurried out of the castle to find Kuwagumon. He had a lot of work to do.
Mace sat in her room looking out of the window at the rain that splashed down into the street below. Mace lived with the rest of her family on the twenty - third floor of a block of flats. She had few friends and that made her miserable. The horrible weather just made her feelings stronger. Breathing out heavily Mace watched the glass steam up before she returned to her book, ‘Mission:Impossible’. Why couldn’t something interesting happen in her life?
In the Digital World, Matt was just making a breakfast of crushed berries with Gabumon’s help. Most of the other Digidestined were bathing in the lake as it was one of the few ways to keep cool on such an abnormally hot morning. T.K. ran up to him with Patamon flying along side, “Hey Matt,” the little kid chirped, “Is breakfast ready yet?” Matt smiled at his little brother, “Almost,” he replied, “Oh boy! I’m starved. I could eat a whole horse!” “I don’t know what a horse is,” Patamon said, “But I could eat a Monochromon.” One by one Tai, Agumon, Joe, Gomamon, Mimi, Palmon, Kari, Gatomon, Izzy and Tentomon gathered around and took their bowls. Joe turned slightly green at the sight of the mush, “I think I’m getting an allergy to berries,” he groaned. Gomamon grinned at him, “If you don’t want them, I’ll eat them,” he offered. Joe slid the bowl towards him, “Go ahead.” “Don’t worry Joe,” Sora appeared holding what looked like a wooden tray. Biyomon fluttered next to her, “We made eggs,” the bird Digimon exclaimed, “Sunny side up are my speciality.” The Digidestined laughed as they excepted the eggs gratefully. They were enjoying breakfast so much that they failed to noticed the hologram appearing above them. It was Agumon who spotted it first, “Hey look!” He said through a mouthful of eggs and berries, “It’s Genai!” The kids and their companions stopped chewing looked up at Genai, “What’s up Genai?” Tai asked, “There is something going on in the real world,” Genai replied in his deep voice, “I’m not sure what it could be but it’s interested Myotismon.” “Then it must be bad,” Kari said, “Technically it must be good,” Izzy told her, “Last time Myotismon was interested in something in the real world it was you.” “I think that you should try to stop him before he causes any damage. I have sent the co-ordinates to your computer.” The hologram faded and Izzy pulled out his laptop computer and began to click away at the keys. Mimi and T.K. glanced curiously over his shoulder, “What’s it doing?” T.K. asked as he watched the digits flash across the screen, “Don’t asked me,” Mimi told him. “PRODIGIOUS!” Izzy exclaimed, “What is it Izzy?” Tentomon asked, “The co-ordinates are right by where Myotismon’s portal to the real world opens at.” “That means that it wont take Myotismon long to find what he’s looking for,” Gabumon pointed out, “We’ve got to get to the portal!” Palmon exclaimed.
Mace put down her her book with a sigh. She was having a difficulty concentrating with the rain pattering down outside, “I’M JUST GOING INTO TOWN!” Her Mum called from the next room, “WILL YOU BE OKAY BY YOURSELF FOR AN HOUR?” Mace sighed, why did everyone always treat her like a little kid - she was thirteen years old, “YES!” She yelled back, “OKAY. BYE HONEY!” She heard the door slam and knew that she was alone in the house. Great. Now she was bored and alone. A pale blue light distracted her. It was shining from behind the TV. She got up and walked over to it. There seemed to be a small and roughly rectangular object stuck behind it. Slowly she reached down for it. DING DONG! The doorbell rang, “MUM?” Mace yelled, “IS THAT YOU?” There was no reply. Mace was about to get up and answer it when there was a loud crunch as though some large object was being thrust against the door. Mace froze, her fingers a mere centimetre away from the glowing object. There was another crunch, this time she could hear the wood splintering. Without thinking, she reached down and pulled out the object. It appeared to have a small screen in the center and Mace decided that it was just some old tamagotchi. She was about to throw it into the bin and hide from who ever was trying to force down the front door when the ground below her gave a lurch and she found herself tumbling into darkness.
The Digidestined stood before the open gate. Through it they could see the streets of the real world, “Has anyone worried that we got into here too easily?” Joe asked, “You worry too much,” Gomamon told him, “Joe’s right,” Palmon said, “Nothing tried to stop us from getting in here.” “We’ll worry about that later,” Tai said bravely, “We’ve got to find what Myotismon is looking for.” The eight kids and their Digimon stepped through the portal and slipped into an alley before anyone could see them, “We’re going to have to split up,” Matt said, “We could go in groups of four,” Sora suggested, “Then we’ll be able to cover more ground.” So Tai, Kari, Agumon and Gatomon went in the first block of flats on the left, Matt, T.K., Gabumon and Patamon went in the second, Joe, Izzy, Gomamon and Tentomon went into the first block of flats on the right and Mimi, Sora, Palmon and Biyomon went into the second. Tai, Kari, Agumon and Gatomon took the lift up to the top floor and began to work their way down to the bottom. They were just coming down the steps from the twenty - fourth floor to the twenty - third when they heard the sound that a glass vase makes when it is dropped from a great height. The smash was followed by a very familiar voice, “The Digidestined has already left. Lord Myotismon is going to...” “That’s DemiDevimon!” Gatomon exclaimed. The four friends rushed into the flat to see the little bat perched on the back of a sofa as a huge red insect ripped down a bookshelf, “And that’s Kuwagumon!” Tai gulped. Agumon began to glow, “Agumon, digevolve to...Greymon!” The massive Dinosaur was almost bent double to fit into the room. Kari was wondering how the floor could take it’s weight but Tai was just bothered about what would happen if Greymon used nova blast, “What are you doing here?” Kari asked DemiDevimon, “We were here first, maybe we should ask you the same question,” the Rookie snapped back, “We heard you talking about another Digidestined,” Tai told him, “Now talk.” A sweat broke out on DemiDevimon’s forehead. If Myotismon found out that the Digidestined knew that there was another one... “Err...You must have heard be wrong. Kuwagumon and I were just talking about the weather.” “Grrrr...Lightning paw,” Gatomon lashed out at DemiDevimon and knocked him off the sofa, “Myotismon must be really desperate to get something done if he still employs you to do it for him.” “You’re just sore because I was always his favourite.” “Get real!” “Tai,” Kari whispered, “The ninth Digidestined must be in the Digital world.” Tai nodded, “Come on, let’s go.” He said. He, Kari and Gatomon turned to leave when Kuwagumon turned on Greymon, his pincer like fangs gnashing together. “NOVA BLAST!” Greymon roared, “WAIT!” Tai yelled but it was too late. Greymon had blown the flat apart Kuwagumon and DemiDevimon were blow out of the building. Looking though the hole, Tai could see the rest of the Digidestined glaring up at him from the street below. Greymon scooped them up and leapt down, causing the street to shake, “What are you playing at, Tai?” Joe demanded, “Yeah,” Matt agreed, “Do you want to get the police onto us?” “We’ve got to get back to the Digital world,” Kari said, “Why?” Asked Patamon, “There’s a ninth Digidestined.”
Mace sat up and massaged her head. The tamagotchi was still in her hand and she had some how been transported into a tropical rainforest, “Hiya gorgeous,” a voice called from above her, “How about a kiss?” She looked up and saw an ugly yellow blob with a long tongue and what appeared to be a pink mouse sat on his head, “AAAAHHHHHH!” Mace leapt to her feet and began to run in the opposite direction. She ran into a pitch black cave and leant against the wall, panting, “Want a light?” A voice asked, “No thanks, I don’t smoke.” Mace gasped before it sank in that there was someone in the cave with her. Slowly she turned around and saw a huge person that was covered from head to foot in orange flames, “AAAAHHHHHH!” Mace screamed again and legged it back out of the cave. Through the trees she noticed water sparkling. Pushing her way through the vegetation, she raced along the sandy beach, towards the sea. As she got close to the water, a massive yellow and green sea serpent reared up with a hiss. Mace screamed again and bolted back into the bushes, “What’s your hurry?” Asked a voice as a black blur rammed into her. Mace fell over backwards and the blur landed in front of her. It was a small creature that stood on four legs. It’s face was dog like with long pointed ears like a rabbit and green almond shaped eyes. It also had a broad tail, bat like wings and black fur with ice blue stripes covering it’s all of it’s body apart from the wings, “Who are you?” Mace asked, he pulse was still racing, “I’m Kimimon,” the creature replied, “Your Digimon.” “Digimon?” “Digital Monster. Calm down, I wont hurt you.” Mace still looked panicky, “What’s up?” Mace blurted out about the four creatures that she had just encountered, “They were just more Digimon. I think you met Sukamon, Chuumon, Meramon and Seadramon.” Kimimon said it as though Mace should have instantly known who they were, “You said that you were my Digimon but I’ve never seen you before.” “You’re one of the Digidestined.” “The what?” “Nine kids who will save both of our worlds from the evil Digimon.” “Evil Digimon?” “There was Devimon but Angemon defeated him,” Kimimon rolled back her eyes as though she was trying to remember, “And the one that MetalGreymon destroyed, Etemon. Now the Digidestined are in the process of beating Myotismon.” “How do you know that I’m a Digidestined?” “You have a Digivice,” Kimimon pointed a paw at the tamagotchi like device, “In battle, I can digevolve into something more powerful so long as you have that.” “Who are the other Digidestined? And where are they?” Mace was beginning to wonder if this was just a big hoax, “There names are Tai, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, T.K. and Kari. There Digimon are Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Patamon and Gatomon. I don’t exactly know where they are at the moment but we can find them. C’mon.” Kimimon began to trot away and Mace wondered if she should trust the strange creature. She quickly decided that she didn’t have a choice and jogged after the Digimon.
DemiDevimon was suspended upside down from the ceiling by a thick chain, “I should have know that you’d fail me again, DemiDevimon,” Myotismon growled, “You can’t blame it on me, master,” DemiDevimon stammered, “The Digidestined had already come to the Digital world. I would have got there sooner if Kuwagumon hadn’t...” “SILENCE! Since you let the Digidestined get away I shall have to get them myself.” The powerful Digimon stormed out of the room, making himself deaf to DemiDevimon’s cries, “Can’t you just let me down? I’m afraid of heights! LORD MYOTISMON...”
“Where could the ninth Digidestined be?” Asked Agumon as he lit a fire with his pepper breath, “Maybe he’s already in the Digital World,” Izzy suggested, “How do you know that it’s a he?” Mimi demanded, “They could still be in your world,” Gomamon said, “Because, lets face it, DemiDevimon wouldn’t have looked far.” As the Digidestined began to argue over where the ninth was, Patamon noticed at T.K.’s eyelids were beginning to droop, “C’mon T.K.,” the kind natured Digimon said, “Let’s get to sleep.” T.K. and Patamon walked away from the fire and sat down near by. T.K. yawned as he lay back. Patamon lay down beside him and closed his eyes. CRACK! Patamon’s eyes opened again. The small Digimon leapt to his feet, his eyes scanning the woodland around him. CRACK! This one came from right behind him. Patamon turned around and squinted into the night. Beyond a dense clump of trees, he could see the tall figure watching them. Even though he could only see the outline where the moonlight illuminated it, Patamon knew who it was, “T.K.,” he whispered, “Wake up.” T.K. sat up, “What is it, Patamon?” He asked. His eyes followed Patamon’s gaze to the clearing, “Uhhhh!” Stumbling over his own feet, T.K. hurried back to the others, “Guys!” He cried, “It’s Myotismon!” “Huh?” The rest of the Digidestined leapt to there feet as Myotismon laughed and leapt up into the air, “Crimson lightning,” the Digidestined scattered to avoid the attack, “You’ve all got to Digevolve!” Matt yelled, “Gabumon digevolve to...Garurumon!” “Biyomon digevolve to...Birdramon!” “Agumon digevove to...Greymon!” “Tentomon digevolve to...Kabuterimon!” “Gomamon digevolve to...Ikkakumon!” “Palmon digevolve to...Togemon!” All of the Digimon charged, “Harpoon torpedo!” “Electro shocker!” “Meteor wing!” Ikkakumon, Kabuterimon and Birdramon’s attacks sailed towards Myotismon. The powerful Digimon waved a hand and the three attacks sailed off in different directions...
...“Cyber ray!” Kimimon flicked her wings and a beam of black light sliced through the air, knocking a bunch of bananas out of a tree, “Eat up Mace, you need your vitamins!” Mace peeled a banana, “Thanks Kimimon. Hey, what are you looking at?” She had noticed that Kimimon’s eyes were fixed on the sky, “Dive.” “What?” “DIVE!” The Digimon knocked her side wards as the ground where she’d been sitting suddenly exploded, “What was that?” “Ikakkumon’s harpoon torpedo. The Digidestined must be in trouble.” “Where did it come from?” “Somewhere over there,” Kimimon waved a paw at the horizon, “We’ll never get there in time.” “Yes we will.” Mace noticed that her Digivice had started to glow again, “What’s up with this thing?” The light shot out and caused Kimimon to glow as well, “Kimimon digevolve to...Meowmon!” Mace gaped up at the massive winged sphinx like creature that Kimimon had become, “Climb onto my back,” Meowmon said as she crouched down, “We haven’t much time.”...
...“Nova blast!” “Needle spray!” “Howling blaster!” Greymon, Togemon and Garurumon all leapt at Myotismon. Myotismon raised a hand at the three attacks vanished. Patamon flew at the evil Digimon as fast as his little wings could carry him, “Boom bubble,” he inhaled deeply, “Pah!” A pink bubble exploded on Myotismon’s shoulder. A second and a third hit his back and chest. Myotismon turned to face Patamon and struck out at him with the back of his hand. Patamon tumbled away, “You’re all going to have to Digevolve again!” Sora yelled as her crest of love began to glow. Tai, Matt, Mimi, Izzy and Joe’s crests all glowed as well, “Birdramon digevolve to...Garudamon!” “Ikkakumon digevolve to...Zudomon!” “Kabuterimon digevolve to...MegaKabuterimon!” “Togemon digevolve to...Lillimon!” “Garurumon digevolve to...WereGarurumon!” “Greymon digevolve to...MetalGreymon!” The massive ultimate Digimon faced Myotismon. The evil Digimon looked unafraid as WereGarurumon leapt at him, “Garuru Kick!” Myotismon grabbed WereGarurumon by the leg and swung him into Garudamon. Both of them fell down on top of Lillymon and the three of them dedigevolved to Tsunomon, Yokomon and Tanemon, “He’s much tougher than last time,” Izzy observed, “What’s that?” Gatomon asked, pointing at the sky. A creature was flying towards them with a teenage girl sitting between it’s wings. The creature landed before them and lowered a wing so the girl to slide to the ground. Bending it’s powerful legs it launched itself into the air, “Why don’t you see if you can beat me, Lord Myotismon?” The Sphinx mocked, “Meowmon,” Myotismon snarled, “Crimson lightning!” Meowmon dodged the attack, “Tsk tsk,” she tutted, “Riddle blast!” A glowing purple ball that looked similar to Etemon’s dark network attack struck Myotismon, causing him to drop down a few metres. Myotismon grabbed Meowmon’s plumed tail with both hands and swung the sphinx around. Meowmon struck the ground hard, “Not so cocky now are you?” Myotismon laughed. Mace noticed that something under her shirt was glowing. She reached inside and pulled out an amulet, “Where did this come from?” She asked. Meowmon stood up, “It’s called a crest,” she explained, “It should give me enough fire power to beat this creep.” Meowmon began to glow, “Meowmon digevolve to...UltimaMeowmon!” Mace gasped. UltimaMeowmon was about three times bigger then Myotismon. She stood on two legs with two sets of wings and huge scaled talons for hands. The Ultimate Digimon flew into the air and now Myotismon was beginning to look nervous, “Sphinx strike!” UltimaMeowmon’s fists glowed as she drew them both back. The first blow caused Myotismon’s head to snapped back, the second caused him to fly back, clear over the horizon. UltimaMeowmon landed and dedigevolved to Kimimon as the other Digidestined crowded around them.
It was an abnormally hot morning as Mace lay on a rock, basking in the sun. Kimimon sat beside her, struggling to squeeze a banana open with her front paws. After watching the Digimon struggle for around five minutes, Mace took the banana off her and peeled it before handing it back, “Thanks,” Kimimon said as she took a bite, “You were really brave last night,” Mace told her, “You saved us all.” “So you’ve told me once or twice...a minute...all night!” “It’s true,” Mace glanced out over the woods, “This place is wonderful.” “The others seem to like you. Are you happy?” “Huh?” “Are - you - happy?” “MACE! KIMIMON! BREAKFAST’S READY!” Matt called. Mace paused for a second, “Yes,” she replied, “COMING MATT!”
Myotismon paced his room angrily, “UltimaMeowmon has only saved a little time for the Digidestined. When I am back to full power I shall strike again and destroy that mangy feline. Good bye DemiDevimon!” Myotismon stormed out of the room, this time listening to DemiDevimon’s protests. After all, he needed some amusement.
THE END!
